Do you agree that I am providing value in these areas? • Strategy 1 - Based on these contributions and the value you agree that I am bringing to the organization and from what you have seen in the past from other high performers, what type of increase do you have in mind? • Strategy 2 is you can throw a percentage at them, percentages are less scary than dollar amounts, so you can say based on your performance and research on people in like positions (be able to provide them with that date too if needed), I think a 15% increase in base salary seems reasonable, what do you think? Item 6: Expect Questions • You are not getting out of this conversation without questions from your boss, you know them better than I do, anticipate anything • Practice, this is where your practice teammate can be so valuable, have them ask you questions, it will help you tremendously Item 7: Ask for Timing for a Response • Make sure you have at least a deadline for a path forward Item 8: How to Respond to a No • Be grateful that your boss heard you out • Ask if they are willing to work with you on a three to six month action plan to help you achieve your desired raise Thanks! Jeff
