So we will always be asking ourselves, "Am I making it easy for the buyer to buy?" Second, every listing should have eight things: keyword optimized title, price, several high quality photos, item condition, benefits to the buyer, % savings from buying new, payment method, and preferred pickup. Be snappy with these. People have short attention spans. 1:16 - Essentials to Effective Facebook Marketplace Listings The Must Haves of any Facebook Marketplace listing are: - A keyword optimized title -- describe the item with specificity and proper capitalization. - Desired price - I usually look for what I deem to be a fair price. - Clear high quality photos -- a photograph says all. - The condition of the item. - The benefits to the buyer (example: grill -- enjoy the summer sun while grilling some steaks to celebrate the 4th on this Weber grill) - The % savings that the buyer stands to gain from buying your used item instead of something new retail (1 - current price / retail price)*100 = % off -- if you're selling a bundle, total all the items together - Preferred payment method: cash / Venmo / QuickPay - Any other preferences in terms of pickup or meet up windows. This video goes over a bad example, mediocre example, and then a good example. 3:37 - Bad Facebook Marketplace Example: Fitbit inspire HR It's not easy for us to make a buying decision based off our listing. How could we improve this: 1. Fitbit Inspire HR - Like New - Still Under Warranty 2. $55 3. Give me something closer to what the retail listings show. They know what they're doing. 4. Like new condition, wore it for one week but decided to go for a Charge 3 instead. 5. Battery lasts the standard 5 days. Comes with charger and original box. 6. Save 22% off retail. 7. Venmo or cash. Pickup in LOCATION any time of the week. 6:52 - Mediocre Facebook Marketplace Example: Grey/Blue Sectional Couch This is a very helpful example since we go over how to think about our Facebook Marketplace listings from the buyers' point of view instead of the seller's. 10:48 - Good Facebook Marketplace Example: Nikon 35mm F1.8 ED FX The main things we improve in this listing involve adding more structure to our listing through our bullet points, and relating more features back to the potential buyer. Why do we make these changes? The original listing was good, but it mainly caters to an experienced photographer. We want to at least attempt to appeal to as broad of an audience of buyers as possible. We also missed the opportunity to highlight some of the great features of this camera such as the auto-focus, or even to show 1-2 shots we took with this camera. 13:54 - Two Big Takeaways to Remember: 1. Are you making it easy for the buyer to buy? 2. Are the key details included in your listing and can they imagine their lives with that item?
