My first live gig in 18 months was a week at Birdland Jazz Club NYC (September 21-25, 2021) playing the music of John Coltrane with this all-star cast of players! The sets, and arrangements, were organized by producer Milan Simich. I filmed the sets with my over-head Zoom camera and, luckily, Jon Bassuk filmed Mr. P.C. on his iPhone. Christian Grassart edited the two together to create this video capturing the 12+ minute performance. I keep the 12-bar form for my solo and played 26 choruses. My Zildjian cymbal setup is, drummer perspective L-R: 14” Armand HHs, 20” Complex II, Peter Erskine “Left Side Ride” (as my main ride), 20” Staccato Ride, 26” Andrés Forero prototype ride.
