In this video we are going to talk about different exercises for babies, oral motor exercises, stimulating face, mouth, and all the feeding development- Oral motor exercises for babies. Make sure that your client/patient/baby is in front of you in laying position, comfortable, and ready for the following exercises. Let’s start with the first exercise: this first facial exercises, we will start by placing the index fingers close to the top of the nose of the baby, and with small gentle movements, we will provide pressure to the skin. The idea of this exercise is simply to stimulate with deep pressure the face of the baby activating the facial muscles. The second oral motor exercise consists of the same base as the first one, however, the direction of the movements takes place from the top of the nose till the cheeks. Please follow the examples of the video for the proper use of these specific exercises for babies/infants/children. Please note: These exercises should not replace therapeutic intervention. It is best to see a speech-language pathologist and/or occupational therapist trained in oral motor therapy.
