📍 This walk starts at Whitworth Park, which is at the southern end of Oxford Road in Manchester. I then walk the length of the popular Oxford Road taking in the sights of the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester University and library and Manchester Aquatics Centre before ending in Manchester city centre. The Oxford Road Corridor is the site of serious scientific innovation; here, you can visit the place where the atom was split, and doff your cap to the building dedicated to pioneering computer scientist and code breaker Alan Turing. Once home to philosopher Friedrich Engels and writer Elizabeth Gaskell, the area can boast its fair share of artistic prestige, too. It's also home to the former site of the Grove House Bar - an early Oasis had a tenancy here before Noel Gallagher joined, when they were called The Rain.
