Remaking Identity with the Beatles | Kenneth Womack | TEDxAsburyPark

In his latest book, "Maximum Volume: The Life of Beatles Producer George Martin (The Early Years: 1926-1966)," Dr. Womack explores Martin's discovery of the Beatles, his efforts to prepare their new sound for the British music marketplace, how he overcame his challenges and how we can relate to his story as we resolve our own crises. Kenneth Womack is Dean of the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University, where he also serves as Professor of English. He is the author or editor of numerous books, including "Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles (2007)," "The Cambridge Companion to the Beatles (2009)," and "The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four (2014)." Dr. Womack is also the author of three award-winning novels, including "John Doe No. 2," "Dreamland Motel," "The Restaurant at the End of the World," and "Playing the Angel." He serves as Editor of Interdisciplinary Literary Studies: A Journal of Criticism and Theory, published by Penn State University Press, and as Co-Editor of the English Association’s Year’s Work in English Studies, published by Oxford University Press. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
