Prosecutor Hammers Hannah Payne for Allegedly Murdering Man Who Fled a Hit-and-Run Crash

The prosecutor pursuing a murder conviction against Hannah Payne gave a fiery opening statement Wednesday that revealed chilling details from the altercation between her and the man she shot. Bonnie Smith outlined how Payne and Kenneth Herring had a tense argument after she witnessed him leave the scene of a hit-and-run crash. Payne followed Herring and ordered him to return to the scene, which he refused to do. Payne then allegedly fatally shot Herring as he sat in the driver’s seat of his car.
