Ryoji and I had many discussions before deciding to post this video of my home birth. It shows me in my most raw and natural state as a woman giving birth to her child. Posting myself in such a vulnerable state is definitely a first for me, but after going through the experience of childbirth I believe that it's something we don't have to feel the need to hide or be ashamed of. All of us are able to live in this world due to the hard work our mothers put in for us to get here. I don't know if I necessarily believe that child birth is beautiful, but I had never experienced an event in my life that was so painful, powerful and special as childbirth. I hope that sharing this video doesn't scare women, but encourages them to use their bodies as nature intended and to feel proud of their womanhood! I am proud of myself for completing this home birth journey and absolutely thrilled that I finally get to spend every day with my daughter here beside me.
