Switzerland | Lauterbrunnen Valley, Interlaken & Murren

The Lauterbrunnen Valley was one of the places that inspired J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle Earth for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Coming here in October and seeing it clothed in autumn colors was indeed magical. The valley is surrounded with many towns and villages which is easily reachable through the many scenic hiking trails you can choose from. We chose the easiest one from the list and even that was already a feast for the eye. We started the day with an early morning trip to Interlaken from Thun. We used our Panorama card to get there for free. We then made our way to Lauterbrunnen by train. From there we took the lift to Grutschalp and a tram to Murren. We explored Murren for the rest of the morning before taking the hike back to Grutschalp. In the afternoon, we walked around Lauterbrunnen town and ate lunch while enjoying a view of the Staubbach falls.
