The key point is you need two of the three criteria, so: 1. Media recognition: Must be in the form of: - Detailed independent critiques - Reviews OR - Critical evaluations 2. Proof of appearances / distribution 3. International award of excellence. - This is actually surprisingly ‘easy’ to get. The definition is very broad. Don’t confuse this with the ‘main’ awards category - that includes the Booker prize etc! The perfect way to hit all three is to get nominated for, or win, or be a finalist for a competition. It does not have to be a huge one to be accepted as an ‘international award of excellence’. Then, off the back of that, facilitate or encourage a critical appraisal of your work, which is published. Then, in parallel, have a booking (again, you can facilitate or encourage this, or your agent can), of you giving a reading. This can be your ‘appearance’. You would need more than one of these. This way, you hit all three in one go!
