There's a wealth of games available covering the period of the American Civil War (my stand-out favourite is Osprey's Rebels and Patriots!) and if you're wanting to get painted reinforcements to the table quickly, I've got you covered! READ MORE: Without spending a lot of time on extremely thin highlights, you'll find it's easy enough to get miniatures painting for battle very quickly. Try switching up some of the blue colours for the Union troops for lighter choices if you'd like a bit more contrast between shadow and highlights - something like Macragge Blue might work pretty well with a black shade, if you want a lighter finish. These guys average about 15 minutes per painted miniature, so a whole unit could be a couple of afternoons of hobby time if you can leave your tools and paints set up between sessions.
