Our day in Skagway began with the Discovery Princess docking at 7:00 a.m., allowing us to venture into town before our exciting noon excursion on the White Pass and Yukon Railway. Take a leisurely 10-15 minute walk from the Railroad dock to town, or opt for the convenient shuttle service at a nominal cost. Despite the rain, we strolled through the picturesque streets, passing intriguing restaurants along the way. Our dock, known as the Railroad dock, serves as a pickup point for the White Pass and Yukon Railroad, offering a direct link to our later excursion. Explore the historic part of town, witnessing the hustle and bustle of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad station. Step inside for a glimpse of the ticketing counter, waiting area, and a charming souvenir/gift shop adorned with railroad memorabilia. As we meander along Broadway with its wooden sidewalks, discover iconic landmarks like the Red Onion Saloon, the Arctic Brotherhood building, and the Golden North Hotel – the oldest operating hotel in Alaska.
