Adrian Granados (USA) vs. Robert Easter (USA) | "FIREWORKS BOXING FIGHT"

Robert Easter Jr. was adamant that the extra weight and the favorable style matchup would create a much more memorable night than his previous ring appearance. The former lightweight titlist delivered on his pre-fight promise. Easter Jr. set a fast pace and endured Adrian Granados' attacks to secure a unanimous decision on Saturday evening at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. The scores were 97-93, 98-92, and an unjust 100-90, which tarnished an otherwise memorable action-packed fight. Easter Jr. initiated his assault with his right hand, consistently penetrating Granados' inviting guard. Motivated by the desire for his first victory since defeating Javier Fortuna in January 2018, the 28-year-old from Toledo, Ohio, marked the final defense of his lightweight title reign before relinquishing the belt to Mikey Garcia in their unification bout last July. In April, Easter Jr. had an unsatisfactory 12-round draw with Rances Barthelemy, a result neither boxer wishes to recall. However, on Saturday, Easter Jr. made strides to create new memories, making his debut as a junior welterweight. The high-energy opening round favored Easter Jr., a typically high-volume puncher who enjoys mixing it up on the inside. Despite his 5'11" frame, Easter Jr.'s tendency to fight much smaller can sometimes be his downfall. Granados capitalized on these opportunities, countering Easter's attacks with right hands and compact left hooks. The furious pace continued in round three, where Easter Jr., prompted by his father and head trainer Robert Easter Sr., utilized his height and reach advantages more effectively. Easter Jr. began round four with a left hook that momentarily backed up Granados, allowing him to utilize the entire ring and keep Granados off balance with lateral movement. Although the action threatened to slow in the second half of the fight, both fighters remained committed to exchanging power punches. Granados attempted to rally late in the fight, targeting Easter Jr.'s body, but Easter Jr. responded with right hands and left hooks, maintaining a relentless pace. Despite landing more punches than any of Easter Jr.'s previous opponents, Granados couldn't overcome the early scorecard deficit, ultimately suffering his second consecutive loss and falling to 21-8-2 (14 KOs). Granados, who landed 391 of 994 punches compared to Easter Jr.'s 239 of 821, believed he won the fight, despite the judges' decision. Nevertheless, it was a significant improvement from his previous knockout loss to Danny Garcia earlier in the year. Easter Jr., now at 22-1-1 (14 KOs), acknowledged the different styles of his opponents, highlighting the contrast between Barthelemy's counter-punching and Granados' aggressive approach.
