2023 TF - CIF-ss Masters - 3200 (Boys Championship)

This is the Southern Section Championship race for the boys 3200 meters. The Southern Section Masters meet was held at Moorpark High School on May 20, 2023. Since the State meet only runs a single set of races, Southern Section must winnow down the best from their 4 divisions into a slate to be entered in the State meet. Generally, Southern Section sends the top 6 from each race to State. But, 8 guys beat the State qualification time of 9:05. Big SS contingent at State the following weekend. This race had a familiar look with Para setting the pace. That first lap was particularly quick. Noonan was content to run at the rear of the front pack, saving that amazing kick of his for the last lap. Remember, 6 of these 12 have broken 9 minutes so this crew has legs. Four PRs among the top 6 in this race. Donis gave enough to make it to the State Final and we'll see what he did in tomorrow evening's hdRunners release of that State race. The Parra/Noonan show will be back in 2024. We'll see if that Zavaleta frosh can join the front pack next year.
