"Open City" – Filipino Song About World War II

THIS VIDEO IS NOT MEANT TO BE POLITICAL OR TO OFFEND ANYONE. Inspired by this video by Canciones de Filipinas:    • "Open City" - Filipino World War II S...   Open City is a song made in 1943 telling the events leading up to the Surrender of the combined Filipino and American Forces in Bataan during the Japanese Invasion. This recording was created in 1975 by the Ermar Duet. The song uses the tune of the Open City March, used to welcome Japanese Soldiers to Manila. The Japanese began their invasion on December 8, 1941, hours after the attack on Pear Harbor (it was still December 7 for them). The Filipino and American Forces eventuallt retreated to the Bataan Peninsula, and then to the Island of Corregidor. On December 26, Manila was declared an Open City to prevent its destruction, however the Japanese ignored it and still bombed the city. Eventually, the Philippines surrendered in 1942, beginning a three year occupation of the country. President Quezon and General MacArthur would escape to Australia, and Quezon would live in America until his death in 1944.
