These are things I wish I would have known before I started driving a motorcycle/scooter/moto here in Cambodia. They seriously could save your life. #1) When learning to drive a moto here in Cambodia, pick someone to follow around and watch how they drive and how they merge with the flow of traffic. #2) Safety First: Have a good helmet, know your moto (practice braking and accelerating in a parking lot or quiet street), practice letting off the throttle and braking in one fluid motion, watch out for turns (there is often gravel, sand or dirt that is hard to see on the road), watch out for blind turns. #3) DO NOT ASSUME. Do not assume people will stop for red lights, drive the correct direction, or follow traffic laws. #4)Try not to make sudden stops or turns to the left or right. This can easily result in a wreck from someone coming up quickly behind you. #5) Careful on blind corners and what is blocking your vision (parked cars, houses, moving cars or trucks, ect.) #6) Don't rage. Find a way to laugh about things or find a positive way of seeing the chaos that exists on these roads. Hope this helps. Comment below if it saves your life!
