Dalisu Ndlazi - The Inevitable Calling

Videography: Vulane Mthembu Photography: Simanga Zondo The 24-year old Dalisu Ndlazi, whose musical journey began when he was just 16 years old, is a bassist and double bassist based in Durban. In 2012, Ndlazi was selected as the National Schools Big Band bassist at the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Festival, held in Grahamstown. Ndlazi’s music career began at the Siyakhula Community Development Centre in Umlazi. He is a bassist whose ability is far beyond his age and he performs with great jazz artists like Nduduzo Makhathini, Andile Yenana, Brian Thusi, Ayanda Skade, Thandi Ntuli and Salim Washington, who featured him in his new album. He is now ready to launch his own solo career and sees this concert as a start of it, he is featuring Zibusiso Makhathini on piano, Thabo Sikhakhane on trumpet and flugelhorn and Riley G on drums and cymbals. His special guests are Nosihe Zulu on 1st instrument and Senzo “Strongbone” Ngcobo on trombone.
