1980s Sobell and 2017 Forster octave mandolins played back to back

I meant to say this in the video but I forgot, they're both a bit buzzy. Both instruments came from much more humid places so despite being humidified in their cases for their entire lives here in Colorado, they still dry out pretty good and are in need of a setup pretty bad. And the Sobell REALLY needs a refret, some of these frets are so worn down that I'm really amazed that it still plays so easily. So hopefully it's not too bad despite the buzzing, and maybe you can get a bit of a feel for each of these instruments still, although I would say that neither of these are very indicative of the typical instruments these builders make. In my experience these are both quite unique. I just wanted to play just a few tunes and a partial song to compare the two before they go off to their new homes soon. Beautiful little instruments, both of them. 1980s big bodied cedar top 23-in scale octave mandolin made by Stefan Sobell 2017 big bodied spruce top 23-in scale octave mandolin made by Nigel Forster
