His exceptional songwriting ability and heavy alcohol and drug use made him a fascinating figure in the music world. His legacy lives on through his influential music and poetic songwriting. "A Rainy Night in Soho" was written by Shane MacGowan and originally included on The Pogues' 1986 EP "Poguetry in Motion". This poignant song has been described as a "love song in the purest sense" and "a most beautiful declaration of scarred love".
