Intraoperative and postoperative hypotension is common and often associated with risk. However, with early detection, it can be managed. In the second part of the Edwards Lifesciences 2021 ASA symposium, Dr. Simon Davies walks through Acumen Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) software and how it detects hemodynamic instability and hypotensive events. In this talk, Dr. Davies will cover: - How Acumen HPI software demonstrated a 57% reduction in the duration of intraoperative hypotension* - Routine treatment of hypotension with vasopressors may be harmful. - Individualizing management of blood pressure and perfusion requires more advanced monitoring than blood pressure and heart rate. - Advanced parameters such as Eadyn and dP/dt assist in making informed treatment choices. *This was from a single arm, multicenter, prospective-to-historical control where non-cardiac surgical patients received arterial line monitoring.
