Judy Garland on The Mike Douglas Show Taped: August 12 1968 Aired: August 16, 1968 Brought to you courtesy of JEAN HANSEN'S EXPERIENCE with enhanced synchronized video and audio, commercials and video commentary in this newly imagined SPECIAL HD EDITION of Judy Garland's appearance on The Mike Douglas Show. The Mike Douglas Show was videotaped in color, at KYW--TV Studios Channel 3 in Philadelphia. This syndicated talk show was co-hosted on this date by Judy's long-time friend Peter Lawford. Judy appeared (after an hour delay backstage: the only time the show was held in its history) wearing her red pants and cape outfit with feathers that she had designed (and that she would wear at her final concert). Although her face was still slightly puffy from her medication-withdrawal, and she did not appear to have had either her hair or makeup professionally done, she was in superb form and voice, winning cheers for her opening numbers "For Once In My Life" and "How Insensitive". After engaging in talk with Douglas and Lawford she was persuaded to sing "Over The Rainbow". It would be only the third -- and final -- time she would sing her theme song in full on television. This successful television appearance of the late 1960's would air in most markets on Friday, August 16, 1968, although it was broadcast in Philadelphia on Monday, August 12, 1968. As presented in this SPECIAL HD EDITION, the Color videotape exists of Judy's solo's and interview section. The original MASTER videotape is not believed to be in the possession of KWY-TV. It is rumored to be sitting in the apartment of a long-time fan, where it is certain to be deteriorating as it is not being stored in a proper facility meant to house video-tape masters.
