Why Sleep is Essential for Combatting Burn-Out | Lamia Katbi | TEDxUSD

NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk for health advice. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and understanding of burnout and sleep. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t... Before the pandemic, 45.8% of physicians were experiencing burnout, according to the American Medical Association. Since the onset of the pandemic, that number jumped up to 61%. And overall, 29% of people under 30 are burned out. In my talk, I will share how to build strength and resilience by fortifying your own five pillars of optimal health. You will learn: - The crucial importance of sleep and how to get what you need; - How your emotional health is undeniably linked to your physical well-being; - The basics of mindful eating and how to get the superfoods you need to thrive; - The power of intentional breathing, and how it can change your life; - How to find the physical activity you love and will enjoy doing forever. Lamia Katbi, MD is a multi-lingual pediatrics specialist, a board-certified pediatrician, a member of the Children's Community Physicians Association, and an educator who enjoys providing families with guidance on health and wellness. After struggling with her own health and emotional challenges, Dr. Katbi discovered the secrets of optimal health and the healing power of awareness. Now, she is on a mission to help people cope with burnout - and avoid it altogether. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
