POCUS: 1st Trimester Pregnancy Case 1

Often patients present with abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding during the first trimester of pregnancy. This can be a risky situation for the patient since ectopic pregnancy is still on of the leading causes of death during the first trimester of pregnancy. In this case we review a patient who presented with vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain while pregnant in the first trimester. This video is the review of an early definitive intrauterine pregnancy (IUP). A yolk sac is visible with in the gestational sac on transvaginal ultrasound. Anatomy landmarks are reviewed for this case for both transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. Findings of a definitive intrauterine pregnancy are discussed.
