Power Rangers: Careers in Film & TV | Story Editor Doug Sloan

The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Power Rangers: Careers in TV & Film! Shot on location at Saban Studios [which doubled as the Youth Center] in mid-March 1995 late in Season 2’s Production, this series featured key crew members from across MMPR Productions, speaking to their role on the show and sharing advice for film school students aspiring for their jobs in the industry. Today’s feature? Story Editor Douglas “Doug” Sloan! Beyond his Story Editor role, Doug’s earliest on-screen credit was writing MMPR 41 [A Pig Surprise]l becaming a Supervising Producer as of MMPR 107 [Best Man for the Job]. He directed several episodes too, also working on Saban’s Big Bad Beetleborgs and VR Troopers. Doug left the show mid-Turbo [mid-Honey I Shrunk the Rangers], only to return as a co-Executive Producer when Disney bought Power Rangers — showrunning Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder in New Zealand alongside fellow MMPR vet Ann Austen. Here, Doug explains the process behind developing each episode before giving some background on his own film education. Watch for a cameo by Jason David Frank with his own Doug Sloan impression, along with a peek behind the scenes of the Command Center set during production on Wild West Rangers. Newcomers Johnny Yong Bosch, Steve Cardenas, and Karan Ashley can be spotted in the background as David Yost walks over to crack jokes with Doug and Ann Austen [then Knapp]. Keep an eye out this Summer when Doug Sloan is set to release his new book about his time working on Power Rangers — Travels Through the Power Ranger Universe! Flash ⚡️ Fact: If Doug looks familiar, that’s because he played Kimberly’s Uncle Steve in three episodes of MMPR! He also lent his voice to Zeo’s Prince Gasket. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The Morphin Museum is proud to partner with Power Rangers Media Info on the Power Rangers Preservation Project — our ongoing project to digitize and archive irreplaceable production media from throughout series history.
