American Bandstand 1968 - Makeup for men? - I Can Take Or Leave Your Loving, Herman's Hermits

Airdate: February 17, 1968 It's the end of the road here for Herman's Hermits' phenomenal chart success. Their cover of “I Can Take Or Leave Your Loving” will be their last Top 40 single in the U.S. It peaks at #22 today on the Hot 100. (#1 in Canada) The Bandstand Regulars I spotted today: Al Allegre (men will wear makeup "for the benefit of man"), Roberta Simon, Forrest Hutchins, and (that) Maureen Cohen answering the question. Dancing - Rick Bach (2:33), Robin Miller (2:30), Don Sanuskar (2:54 - he hadn’t sat down yet after just finishing the Spotlight Dance to “Love Is All Around”) Famous Hooks & Jenny Nichols (2:57), Patty Barden (3:03), and Sondra Gomez (4:07 and in this videos' thumbnail). Who'd I miss? A peak behind the curtain - we found out today that a group of skilled writers don't work late into the night coming up with the "Question of the Day", lol. I wasn't around much in '68 or even 3 years later, but I don't think men's makeup ever was a "thing" back then? or ever? If you're following along, this is the same episode where they danced to "Love Is Blue" as the #1 song, "Love Is All Around" as the Spotlight dance, and “Tomorrow” by Strawberry Alarm Clock - all posted here previously. Thank you, as always, to my video partner @jthyme (Gary) for supplying this episode and thank YOU for spending a few minutes in 1968 with me. More to come!
