Eva Cassidy was an American singer and musician known for stunning performances of jazz, folk, and blues music. Tragically, she died from melanoma at the age of only 33 in 1996. She was virtually unknown outside her native Washington, D.C. at the time of her death, but that changed drastically within a few years as her recordings became known to some producers, and over time, several albums were released, charting in the top 10 in several countries! In total over 10 million copies have been sold. Most notable is her solo album which released in 1996, the year she died. Live At The Blues Alley included Over The Rainbow which I will react to today. It is considered by many to be the finest recording ever of the song, originally performed by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz.
