Today we are going to dive into an important topic, DCIS. In this video, we will cover how DCIS is treated and what the chances of survival are. There are number of reasons why at the moment we are treating DCIS with surgery. Number one is the risk of progression. While DCIS is non-invasive, meaning the cancer cells are confined to the milk ducts and have not spread into surrounding breast tissues or other parts of the body. It can progress over time, potentially. Some cases of DCIS can develop into invasive breast cancer, where cancer cells break through the duct walls and potentially spread.
