Body Image Struggles and Steroid Use: My Journey from Insecurity to Sobriety

Hey everyone,Today, on day 139 of my sobriety journey, I’m opening up about my struggles with body image. Growing up in Sweden as an adoptee from Sri Lanka, I was often compared to Swedish children and teens in terms of size and weight. This led to doctors telling me I was too skinny and too light, without understanding that people from different backgrounds have different body types. As a kid, these comments were tough to handle, making me feel like something was wrong with me. This insecurity led me to try anabolic steroids at the age of 16 or 17. By the time I was 20, I had already done around 7 to 8 cycles. My life turned into a vicious cycle of drug abuse and steroid use to rebuild my body after it was broken down by narcotics. In this video, I share this part of my story, not just to recount my past, but to shed light on how body image issues can deeply affect us and lead to destructive behaviors. It's a part of my journey that shaped me and a struggle I continue to overcome in my path to sobriety. Thank you for listening and for your ongoing support.
