Jorja Smith plays a medley of her songs "Time" and "Something In The Way," followed by a cover of the Amy Winehouse song "Stronger Than Me," live in concert before a sold-out crowd at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California on August 28, 2022. Time appeared on Smith's third EP, Be Right Back (2021). Something In The Way appeared on Smith's debut EP, Project 11 (2016). Jorja Smith is a Grammy Award nominated British R&B / soul singer from Walsall, England and based in London. Joining her onstage were Justin Canavan (guitar), Mutale Chashi (bass), Jas Kayser (drums), Amané Suganami (keyboards), Destiny Adia Andrews (backing vocals), Phylicia Hill (backing vocals), and Kadeem Nichols (backing vocals). This was the final night of Jorja Smith's Summer Tour 2022. =================== Something In The Way lyrics: When I left I thought I would be stronger But in fact, it took away my energy Hard to tell you that I could not really see Beyond the gates of this purgatory I am so tainted now, I cannot wash you off The memories still don't seem to fade When I left, did you even wash your tears? 'Cause mine have been dryin' for days Somethin' in the way Why am I cryin' for you, babe? Can't stand the rain Time to move on anyway Don't ask me why It's done So long, goodbye I'm gone 'Cause only sun in the summer lasts No holdin' on and no lookin' back Even the sun doesn't seem to last It don't hold on, it's not comin' back If I kept a hold a little longer I would never think I'd ever get away Don't want to say I tried to keep ya Say love is blind, I couldn't see you change, no Don't wanna find myself back in that place I have wasted all my tears on fools There was no help for me, no savin' grace I had been tryin' for days There was somethin' in the way Why am I cryin' for you, babe? No I can't stand the rain Time to move on anyway Don't ask me why It's done So long, goodbye I'm gone 'Cause only sun in the summer lasts No holdin' on and no lookin' back Even the sun doesn't seem to last It don't hold on, it's not comin' back [Instrumental Bridge] Well there was somethin' in the way Why am I cryin' for you, babe? I can't stand the rain Time to move on anyway 'Cause only sun in the summer lasts No holdin' on and no lookin' back Even the sun doesn't seem to last It don't hold on, it's not comin' back Even the sun in the summer doesn't seem to last No holdin' on and no lookin' back Even the sun doesn't seem to last It don't hold on, it's not comin' back Written by Jorja Alice Smith / Charles James Perry ================== Jorja Smith - Summer Tour 2022 live tour dates May 26 - London, UK @ Koko May 29 - Stockholm, Sweden @ Gröna Lund Tivoli June 2 - Paris, France @ We Love Green festival June 4 - Barcelona, Spain @ Primavera Sound June 7 - Barcelona, Spain @ Sala Apolo June 8 - Barcelona, Spain @ Luz de Gas June 11 - Barcelona, Spain @ Primavera Sound July 2 - Werchter, Belgium @ Rock Werchter July 7 - Lisbon, Portugal @ Nos Alive Festival July 14 - Stuttgart, Germany @ Jazzopen Stuttgart Aug. 20 - Queens, NY @ Lets Get Fr.ee Festival Aug. 22 - Montreal, QC @ MTelus (formerly Metropolis) Aug. 25 - Chicago, IL @ The Salt Shed Aug. 27 - Pasadena, CA @ This Ain't No Picnic Festival Aug. 28 - Oakland, CA @ Fox Theater ================= Jorja Smith bio: Blending classical vocal artistry with beats inspired by modern R&B, reggae, and hip-hop, Jorja Smith has risen to become one of Britain’s most exciting soul singers since her debut single, the searching, Dizzee Rascal-sampling “Blue Lights,” came out in 2016. Born in England’s West Midlands in 1997, Smith began studying music at an early age while listening to reggae, dub, and soul music on her own, and her YouTube covers of hits by Alex Clare and Tinie Tempah garnered her notice from industry bigwigs. Smith’s second single, the glossy “Where Did I Go?”, was praised by Drake that July; a few months later, she released her debut EP, Project 11, and was named to the BBC’s Sound of 2017 long list. Drake invited Smith to tour with her and appear on his project More Life in 2017, and later that year she collaborated with American urbano star Kali Uchis on “Tyrant” and toured the world with Bruno Mars. Smith kicked off her 2018 with the BRIT Critics’ Choice Award, and soon after, she put out her debut full-length, Lost & Found, which showcased her defiantly honest songwriting, effortless genre-mixing, and supple voice on tracks like the soulful “Wandering Romance” and the downtempo “On Your Own.” ========= Typo catcher: Georgia Smith, Jorjia Smith, Some Thing In The Way
