In today's video, I will be traveling to Guayaquil, Ecuador! Throughout my travels in Ecuador, numerous locals have told me about how Guayaquil is the most dangerous city here in Ecuador. After hearing those comments, I wanted to come to experience the southwestern port city for myself. Guayaquil is a port city in Ecuador, known as a gateway to Pacific beaches and the Galapagos Islands. Stretching along the Guayas River is the waterfront Simón Bolívar promenade, home to the La Rotonda monument. In the north, Las Peñas is a neighborhood full of colorful houses. Stairs lined with cafes and art galleries lead up Santa Ana Hill, the site of Santa Ana Chapel, a lighthouse, and views of the city. From Cuenca, Ecuador, I took the bus and headed to Guayaquil. There, I walked all over the city and visited: Cerro El Carmen, the Financial District, Iguana Park, the Cathedral of Guayaquil, and the Malecon (riverfront) that overlooks the entire Guayas river.
