This heavily decorated 3 manual plus pedal reed organ is made by K.A. Anderssons Orgelfabrik of Sweden, manufacturing the date is around 1895. It is a suction based instrument, it contains almost 1200 reeds, plus a set of bells on the top manual which also is connected to a sustain pedal – which is used in this piece. I’m not used to using a sustain pedal like a piano and organ playing at the same time, it is a rather different experience! The entire organ has every space inside used, the cabinet is not a big, empty chamber, and there are no pipes. This organ is currently being repaired, not all ranks of reeds are working (5 ranks are broken/disconnected), the pneumatics for the main Diapason stop are only engaging about quarter way, and there are many ciphers. I can only imagine once this instrument is in full organ, there are currently no couplers working either!
