For Maddie’s birthday, we rented a cabin next to Bacalar lagoon. (In Spanish: La Laguna de Los 7 Colores.) We spent the week wishing it would never end! Most mornings, we watched jaw-dropping sunrises. We found ourselves swimming, kayaking, and splashing around in the lagoon every day. Laska even came out with us on the kayaks and she loved it! We also saw some incredible things in nature like wild toucans! We hope you enjoy our Mexico vlog about this unforgettable week we spent in Bacalar. You won’t be disappointed! 2. La Playita - This restaurant sits right on Bacalar Lagoon. The food and drinks are incredible! You can also snap some pictures out on the dock. 3. Yaya Cafe - Try this little coffee shop for espresso drinks and a place to get some work done. 4. La Piña - This restaurant is our go-to spot for breakfast. We recommend trying one of their "Smoothies Borrachos" (fresh fruit/juice with booze). 5. Cerveceria La Guayaba - Perfect place to get cheap food and drinks in an upbeat vibe. The whole menu is 24-45 pesos. 6. Cerveceria Artesanal Bacalar - This restaurant is right on Bacalar Lagoon. They have tables, daybeds, and hammocks to relax in for free while you order food and drinks. 7. Nao + Damajuana - The cocktails here were some of the best we've ever had. 8. Cocina Orizaba - If you’re looking for authentic, cheap Mexican food, this is the spot to go for breakfast/lunch. 9. Taco Regio - This tasty taco joint was excellent and well-priced. 10. Yerbabuena Smoothie Bar - Cool off with a fresh juice or smoothie from this delightful little hole-in-the-wall with swings out front. WHAT TO DO IN BACALAR 1. Watch the sunrise - It’s totally worth it to wake up early and see the sunrise. (We recommend this sunrise paddleboarding tour: https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/38.... 2. Kayaking & Paddleboarding - You can rent kayaks and SUPs all over the lagoon. It's a great way to experience Bacalar's turquoise waters. We also recommend taking a swim! 3. See Cenotes - If you don't take Antonio's tour (above) we think it's worthwhile to see the two cenotes that are in (yes, IN) Bacalar Lagoon. 4. Explore! Half the joy of Bacalar is experiencing things you don't plan or expect.
