THIS VIDEO: When we were looking for a boat, we wanted a family boat to visit the San Juan Islands and our local lakes. That was quickly colored by a curiosity and desire to keep exploring the huge expanse of natural beauty farther north. Now we are left to wonder if Emerson can handle weeks-long cruising between Seattle and Alaska without turning it into an endurance feat for us. Going forward, we envision a mix of marinas, state and provincial parks with mooring balls, and of course remote anchorages. The farther north (and interestingly) east one travels, the more remote it gets.
