Symphony X Without You Cover – Without You Symphony X Band Cover

Alright, here’s a little bit of background how this project came about. A couple of us were getting together one day. It happened to be the same day "Without You" by Symphony X came out so we decided to do a cover of it .This video features Marcus James on drums, Mikayla Brite on vocals, and Zaki Ali on guitar, bass, and keys. Recorded and filmed at Stalagtite Productions. All credit to SymphonyX for writing “Without You”. Further below are links to the performers in the video. I’m a massive Symphony X fan and was therefore eagerly awaiting their new release. Well, what can I say, “Underworld” certainly turned out to be a winner and found almost immediately lots of critical acclaim. As you may know, it landed #7 on the First Ever Progressive Metal Charts, where it’s in good company with acts like Muse, Joe Satriani, Roger Waters, Faith No More and Nightwish. Not bad for a bunch of Jersey Boys, right? Anyway, while it’s difficult to pick favorites, “Without You” stands out because of its complex, yet brilliantly smooth arrangement. However, arguably, it might be the ‘simplest’ tune of the whole album. Anyway, the fact is, when we all heard the track for the first time, it was pretty clear that all of us wanted to do a “Symphony X Without You” Cover Version. At first, we thought it might be a good idea to make a bunch of separate cover videos, e.g. a “Symphony X Without You Guitar Cover”, and the same for drums, keys, vocals and so forth. But ultimately, after discussing this project, we all concluded that a band cover would make most sense. Here is the Underworld track list, including my favorite “Without You”: 1. "Overture" 2. "Legend" Our approach in covering “Without You” by Symphony X was to come as close to the original as possible, but without just creating yet another copy. So, Mikayla, Marcus and I left our own note, for the lack of a better term. As I mentioned before, the arrangement is fairly complex but all three of us are happy how our Symphony X cover of “Without You” came out.
