Blackstone Griddle Install RV update

Blackstone install RV Update (griddle install) 00:00 Intro 00:50 Heat Shield 03:00 Griddle Angle 03:45 Trimming Cabinet 05:35 Cabinet Trim It's been a few months since I've installed the blackstone in the camper. I have to say on average I've ended up using itless than I used to use the 17". It may sound very strange but I've found that the way I installed it, mainly being that I have to flip the griddle lid over was a lot more of a pain than I initially planned. It is because of this that I have made some modifications. I fixed a few different things and I'll take this time to walk you through all the changes. #1. I had made a video on making a heat shield for the camper. I will say that after using it for a while that I've decided that in my purpose the heat shield wasn't necessary. My infared thermometer shows a temp of 110 on the lip of the counter when using. I didn't use it very much so I decided to get rid of it. Some people use an aluminum heat shield that sticks up higher than the fabric one I made to control grease. I've not had a huge amount of splatter, and truthfully I just consider it part of an outdoor kitchen. #2. I corrected the angle of the griddle. At first I made it what should have been level, but every time that I parked the camper I would have grease pool up in the front corner. This was surprisingly more annoying than you would think. So I lowered the back of the drawer slides by 0.5" in order to tilt it back toward the grease catch. It's much easier to cook on now. #3. I removed the cabinet face board above the griddle. In my case it kept me from being able to close the griddle without flipping the lid over. This means that it would have to cool down 100% before I could touch it and flip it, in order to put it back in. Some installs have not had this face board get in the way. For some reason mine did, and I only mounted it 0.5" above the door opening so not sure what went on there. I was initially planning on reinforcing the sides with angle iron and putting some flat iron across the front to connect them to add rigidity. I believe that with the amount of forces exerted on this cabinet with the other points of attachment will be fine. Now I usually let it cool off a few minutes but can push it back in way sooner than I could previously. #4. I got some aluminum window flashing and cut it to make trim pieces on the sides. I just cut it to fit with a pair of tin snips then painted it with some black spray paint. I also cut a notch in this area to be able to get the gas fitting in. This significantly helped the fit and finish.
