Chelsea Lipford Wolf builds a wooden step stool for a toddler to use at the sink and kitchen counter using 1x12, 1x8, and 1x2 oak. They first apply a wood stain with the grain before cutting the materials to length and assembling using wood screws. After the stain dries and it's lightly sanded, they apply a new triple-thick polyurethane product to give it a protective coat.
