Nikki Hill - "Sweet Little Rock and Roller" from The Extended Play Sessions on Alternate Root TV

What keeps Nikki Hill a genre-free zone is the way the sound comes at you from the stage. It is raw. The music attacks with a ferocity sweetened by Nikki's voice so that it is never feral. Nikki Hill and her band, The Pirate Crew, use Durham, North Carolina as a base. They describe their sound as Roots Rock'n'Roll. Following an E.P. released in June, 2012, the group have released Here's Nikki Hill in the spring of 2013. Nikki Hill has a no-filter energy, taking all the flavors of American roots music and delivering a sound that will make you testify to the power of rock'n'roll! Nikki's gritty vocal sings female empowerment using the dynamic bump and grind of Stax soul. The Pirate Crew are a non-stop rhythm section led by the rhythm and lead guitar work of husband, Matt Hill. Nikki's musical roots began while singing in gospel choirs at church as a child. She was introduced to musical diversity living in the college town of Chapel Hill introduced and the awareness of unique and non-mainstream music as a career. After pairing up with her guitar-playing husband Matt Hill, they have made an unstoppable team and have established themselves as roots rock and roll powerhouses! Nikki Hill is a Southern Fireball. As her recent release states, Here's Nikki Hill, and she and her powerhouse backing band spread their message of rock 'n' soul to believers for a special screening at The Alternate Root TV studio. Here's a sneak preview of the memorable sessions from November 8th.
