Reconnaissance Operations Commander Course

Ever wonder what it’s like being a qualified Infantry Reconnaissance Operations Commander (ROC)? This should give you a pretty good idea. One thing is for sure. It’s not for the faint of heart. To succeed on the ROC Course at the Infantry School in Gagetown, New Brunswick, you need to be highly motivated, in excellent physical shape, and you need to be a team player. No one makes it through alone. The candidates on the course are already trained and qualified in basic Reconnaissance Patroller (RP). On this course the Non-Commissioned Members learn to command a Reconnaissance Section, and the Officers acquire the skills necessary to command a Reconnaissance Platoon. The course, which runs annually, is also open to international candidates from Allied Forces. The course has recently accepted members of the Latvian, Irish, and Australian Armed Forces which benefits training to all involved.
