If Jewish American identity had a soundtrack, the band Jacob’s Ladder would definitely be on it. Jacob's Ladder joins Cantors Dan Mutlu and Jenna Pearsall, along with Cantorial Intern Beth Reinstein, in a bluegrass setting of Pitchu Li. --- Jacob's Ladder seeks to push the boundaries of contemporary Jewish music and traditional American Roots music within the context of Jewish communal singing and prayer. In combining these two musical identities, they tell their story through music; not only are they proud of their Eastern European Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jewish traditions, but also of their American heritage and its influence on their lives and musical style. In doing so, they offer a unique spiritual and musical experience to those who are wrestling with their own identity, particularly regarding what it means to be an American Jew. -- Central Synagogue is a thriving Reform Jewish congregation in New York City.
