(scroll down to read about it) Episode 1 of 3 in a series focusing on the jazz standard; Georgia on My Mind - written back in 1930 by the great Hoagy Carmichael In this first part we focus on playing the basic changes using authentic, 3 note chord voicings and spread triads. We then learn to play the basic melody over these changes.. (a looper will come in handy for practicing this). All of this will get you feeling confident and familiar with the tune.. an essential step in preparing for the next 2 episodes where we will focus on making our own beautiful chord melody and finally tackle improvising solos over these chord changes. I would highly recommend downloading the lesson materials provided at the link above.. all of the topics covered in this lesson are typed up nice and neat and provided in both guitar pro and PDF formats. Having these to hand whilst following along with the video will certainly make things much easier to absorb. I have also included a backing track to practice over, as well as a recording of a single playthrough the basic melody.
