OBSERVATION OF PKM 1 MORINGA FOR ITS TREND IN FLOWERING AND FRUIT SET Moringa oleifera - PKM 1 sown in the first week of January 2020 at the spacing of 3.0 M by 0.9 M was observed today for recording flowering trend and fruit set. Only top 6-7 nodes of the branches are bearing cluster of flowers and remaining nodes downside have just produced vegetative shoots in lieu of flowering shoot . @ average productive shoots of 10 each bearing 7 cluster of flowers , every tree is expected to produce 70 inflorescence . @ 3 pods per cluster around 210 pods are expected per tree . @ average pod weight of 80 grams around 25 000 kgs of pods are anticipated . Since PKM 1 is annual in growth habit ,during first 4-5 months attention is focused on increasing the number of productive branches through pinching and pruning .Bcoz flowering initiates well in 120-140 days ,after that balance is reached between flowering and vegetative growth .Any mismanagement like overdose of nitrogen, excess moisture or prolonged drought will alter the growth and disturb the equilibrium between vegetative and flowering phase resulting in poor yield and quality of pods . The roots of PKM 1 is highly sensitive . PKM 1 Moringa completes its life cycle seed to seed in 12 months and needs to be cut back
