Coast 2 Coast C2C Way of the Roses in 1 Day - Morecambe to Bridlington

Way of the Roses Coast 2 Coast (C2C) Bike Ride in 1 day from Morecambe to Bridlington. On the Saturday 12th June 2021, Standish Cycling club with the help of their support drivers John and Barbara set out on the challenge stopping off at Boroughbridge after day 1 and then completing the challenge in 2 days. Myself and Darren with the help of our support vehicle driver Dave C set off from Morecambe at 03:00am on Sunday 13th June. The challenge was to complete the Coast 2 Coast in a day and to meet up with Standish Cycling Club at Boroughbridge before they set off on their second day. That meant getting to Boroughbridge before 10:00am. We set off early in the morning and as a result got to see loads of wildlife. The views on this route especially first thing in the morning was spectacular. The biggest and toughest climb of the day was at High Hill Lane at Settle with a 20% gradient in places and a distance of 2.8 miles. A video on the Settle climb will be out soon as myself and Dave M completed this again 2 weeks later on the White Rose Classic Sportive. If you do the Way of the Roses route then please be careful on the Greenhow descent into Pateley Bridge. It has a series of sharp bends that can catch you out. You really do need to be prepared and a great source of information is available at the http://wayoftheroses.info/ website. Nutrition is also a major factor in completing this challenge. The ride was completed when the Covid-19 restriction were relaxed but all members also had a negative Covid-19 test before the event. Massive thanks to Darren for completing the ride with me and to my brother Dave C in the support vehicle. Dave C was tracking us using Garmin connect and his planning was absolutely spot on. I could not have done this without both of them. Also massive thanks to Dave M for supplying more footage, all the guys at https://www.standishcyclingclub.co.uk/ for there help and support and to John and Barbara in the other support vehicle. Good luck to all those that take on this challenge.   / strava   ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Music by Atch Time Out Over You First Light SoundCloud: bit.ly/AtchSoundCloud Spotify: bit.ly/AtchSpotify Instagram: www.instagram.com/atchmusic ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a link to the Settle climb which we completed 2 weeks later whilst doing the White Rose Classic Sportive.    • Settle Cycling Climb - High Hill Lane...
