What a trip this was. Once again our crew was out fishing with Captain Mike Harney on the EmmaJack out of Bass River, MA. This trip has turned into a yearly "Fathers Day" charter for us over the last few years and it never disappoints. Even on what we consider to be a slow day, we'll get a limit up to 8-9lbs. A good day is a limit in a little over an hour with multiple fish over 10lbs. This trip had it all. We had a bunch of fish that were over 9lbs but just under 10lbs. We had Fred's 11.5lb Pool Winner. I had a nice doormat break off right into the net and also I drop a fluke 10ft from the boat that was definitely a "fish of a lifetime". We were definitely on our toes all days. As far as tackle I keep things pretty straight forward: - Rod - Black Widow 200 blank that I built myself (acid wrapped with all Alps components) - Reel - Daiwa Lexa-HD 300H-P - Line - 30lb Suffix 832 - Leader - 30lb Seaguar STS Fluorocarbon - The Jewelry - 1/4oz Poisontail Jigs I really don't deviate from this setup too much. I might change to a spinning setup with a bucktail when the tide slacks, but generally I stick with the setup stated above.
