Middle NZ Vol 06 F

Thanks to my good friend who shot these videos around the lower North Island and upper South Island at the beginning of this 21st century. He wishes to remain anonymous but has made them available to me for editing and upload to You Tube. This video was shot on a DV handycam and several years have passed by since the first video. Now that I look back a couple of decades there is so much has changed in the middle region that this video has already become a fantastic historical record of railways. The photography is awesome and these videos are a good record around and during The Twins era with a several liveries and lots of Passenger including Dc and Dx action still in the North Island. Initially "The Twins" was the term given to Dbr's 1199 and 1200, the name stuck and after 1199 was replaced by many other loco's this unofficial nickname used by enthusiasts stayed. I really like those photo locations on the Thorndon hills, have only been there a few times but one of my favourite spots. Some more great shots of not only the Wellington yards action but also freights and metro traffic heading in and out on various lines. Also several ships coming into the Wellington inner harbour are included in passing this time. A pacing shot follows a southbound freight along the Kapiti coast..... It is impossible without very sophisticated stabilizing equipment to make smooth video when pacing owing to the sudden movements of car on road and also the secondary movement of videographer in a sprung seat in the vehicle. But this a good effort using the human body as a sort of shock absorber. If you enjoy this history please hit the Like and Subscribe buttons...
