Gen. Santino Deng Wol, Chief of Defence Forces of the South Sudan People's Defence Forces told the first batch of unified forces that were deployed to Malakal on the 15th of November 2023, “You need to understand this very well that you don’t have any link with politics, you don’t have any relationships with any party because an army has no party, you are the national army and as you can see us since 1983, we did not belong to any party, we are the South Sudan people defence forces and I warn you from today not to leave the army and go and talk about the politics but leave politics to politicians because our role is to defence and protect South Sudan territory and its citizen.” The army must have discipline as a unified force.
