For almost 50 years, Cher has been considered one of the most successful women in the show-business. She is a singer, an actress, an author, a producer and simply a holder of unique voice. The goddess of pop rose to fame in 1960s and remained to be a superstar in 2000s. Since early years, Cher knew she wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry and so left home as a teenager and moved to LA. There, she found a job as a backing singer along with her second half Sonny Bono. The couple’s mutual work reached success and their hits were competing with Beatles songs. In the beginning of 1990s, the singer moved to New York and got a role in the Silkwood for which she was even nominated for the Oscar. Continuing acting and singing careers, she won the Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and three Golden Globe Awards in musical and TV spheres. Cher’s father, John Sarkisian was a truck driver by profession who was addicted to gambling and drugs. He wasn’t present much in a family due to job and sentence in a prison. After parent’s divorce, little Cher didn’t see dad for many years until she clocked 11 and had the first meeting with John. The mother, Georgia worked as an actress and a model. But after the divorce, things became financially tough and as a single parent, she had to place Cherilyn in an orphanage for some time to get a better job. After a couple of years, Georgia remarried a man named Gilbert Hartmann LaPiere, who became a singer’s step-dad. The celebrity has a half-sister Georganne who is also into the entertainment world, being an actress. She was shot in such movies as T.J.Hooker, General Hospital and others. She was married twice and has been now happily living with the second spouse Edward Bartylak since 1990. The pop star’s personal life is not less exciting as her professional career. She walked down the aisle with Sonny Bono in 1964. The two love birds met when Cher was only 16, whereas Bono was 28 at that time. It all began as friendship but just within two years, they were already married. They were singing together as well as performing at the show, until the marriage dissolved 11 years after. After the divorce, they were not in touch a lot, yet Bono’s sudden death devastated the singer. Gregory Allman became the celebrity’s second spouse in 1975. Three days after the divorce with Bono was finalized, the pop icon married for the second time. Their marriage came to an end four years after because of Allman’s heroin addiction. The famous singer has two kids. In a marriage with Sonny, she became a mother for the very first time to a baby-boy Chaz Salvatore, who was delivered in 1969. He was actually born a girl called Chastity Sun. According to Chaz, he had always been feeling different and understood what it was at the age of 13. In 1995, he came out as a transgender and in 2008, went through a male-to-make gender transition surgery. In 2011, he changed his name and is now known as an actor of the American Horror Story. In 1976, Cher has produced a second child but this time with Allman. His name is Elijah Blue Allman and he is a well-known singer as well as a guitarist. At some point, he suffered from Lyme disease and went to Germany for treatment, where he met his second half, an opera singer Marieangela King. They got married in 2013 and are together till present moment.
