We're back out fishing South Australia, this time our journey takes us to Somerton Beach, a hidden treasure nestled between the popular Brighton and Glenelg beaches in metro Adelaide. In HOOKED ON Adelaide's Beach Squid FISHING HOTSPOT, we dive into an unexpected angling adventure. While our quest initially focused on whiting, armed with scented Gulp Soft Plastic sandworms and Starlo Tackle Worm Burners, the ocean had a different plan. To our surprise, we found ourselves amid a thriving squid fishing zone from the beach, using the Inku Squid Tackle squid jigs and floats to make some remarkable catches right off the beach – a spot usually overlooked for squid fishing. Learn how to catch squid off the beach. What I am really surprised with is that this seems to be a little-known fishing hot spot in metro Adelaide to beach fish from. It's a testament to the rich and diverse fishing experiences that South Australia has to offer. While I wouldn't recommend fishing Somerton Beach during busy days for swimmers so as not to get in each other's way, I'd certainly recommend it on an early morning run in tide to catch a bag of squid, and possibly Whiting, Tommy Tuff/Australian Herring, Flathead and Salmon Trout.
