He developed an interest in classic menswear in his early teens, but his parents were concerned that if he dressed too differently from his peers, this might lead to social awkwardness or bullying. Fortunately, however, his friends and peers, in general, were largely very supportive--though this won’t be the case for everyone! For Raphael, his family was never very interested in clothes, and getting dressed was more about function and cost than style. When he developed an interest in classic style, he did because it resonated with him. Preston has a similar story.
