Lucky is a 35-year-old man who works in the mines of Mpumalanga. Lucky’s partner who resides in Durban had given birth to their first born child the day before. With a day left before the national lockdown commences due to Covid-19, Lucky’s world is turned upside down when he and his colleagues are retrenched, Lucky grapples with this news of distress. Over a phone call with his wife, Lucky goes through an array of emotions and challenges as he struggles to inform her of the unforeseen news at his work place whilst trying to maintain a celebratory demeanour over the birth of his first born child, Princess, which also happens to be the name of a particular diamond cut which emits the most light/sparkle.
