Learning PUNJABI, The OFFICIAL Language of the State of Punjab | Amritsar, India

In November of 2018, I re-visited one of my favorite destinations in the world, India, after I fell in love with the country back in January. During my epic trip, my travel buddy Sam (from Sam & Audrey) and I visited seven beautiful and unique cities and did and ate everything we could to soak up as much Indian culture as we possibly could. Follow Japneet:   / iamjapneetmakkar   Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:    / backpackingtraveltv   The third city we visited on this trip was Amritsar, a city in the northern Indian state of Punjab that’s not far from the Pakistani border. After an incredible meal at Sarhad, or Border Restaurant, my friend Japneet took the time to teach me some key words and phrases in Punjabi, which is the 10th most widely spoken language in the world with over 100 million speakers in the Indian Subcontinent. Punjabi is a unique Indo-Aryan language because it uses lexical tone, which means the pitch of your voice can dictate the meaning of certain words. Punjabi can be written in two different alphabets: Shahmukhi (used mainly by Punjabi Muslims) and Gurmukhi (used mainly by Punjabi Sikhs and Hindus). How did I do in my first Punjabi lesson? Let me know in the comments! My Film Making Kit ► https://kit.com/davidsbeenhere Here are the words and phrases Japneet taught me in Punjabi: -Hello -Goodbye -How are you? -Nice to meet you -Where are you from? -What do you do? -How old are you? -Family -Mom -Dad -Sister -Older Brother -Younger Brother -Husband -Car -Train -Airplane -Taxi -Where is the station? -How much is the ticket? -Water -House -Dog -Cat -Cow -Restaurant -Time -What is the time? -How much is it? -Do you have a bigger size? -Do you have a smaller size? -One -Two -Three -Four -Five -Six -Seven -Eight -Nine -Ten -Monday -Tuesday -Wednesday -Thursday -Friday -Saturday -Sunday -Day -Welcome to Amritsar I hope you enjoyed this crash course in the Punjabi language!
